Georgia: Not Such A Peachy Masonic State
06/23/2009“African-Americans continue to suffer from the consequences of slavery and Jim Crow laws - long after both systems were formally abolished - through enormous damage and loss, both tangible and intangible, including the loss of human dignity and liberty.”

The Origins of Freemasonry & Revolutionary Brotherhood
06/23/2009http://masonictraveler.blogspot.com/Georgia on my Mind: Masonry’s Chance to Become Relevent
06/23/2009This week, I was lucky enough to attend the South Dakota Grand Lodge session in Sioux Falls. I say that I was lucky because I got to see a lot of fantastic Brothers that I had not seen in a while and meet Brother Chris Hodapp, the author of Freemasons for Dummies.
Nothing terribly exciting happened during the course of the weekend. The items that we voted on were extremely mundane, but the recurring theme of the weekend seemed to be: How do we make Freemasonry the prominent and relevant organization it once was?
My brother’s keeper. Open Racism in Georgia Freemasonry.
06/23/2009Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” [d] And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”
“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
Its Go Time!
06/23/2009Read this article on Chris Hodapp's blog immediately. This is serious stuff that all Freemasons need to know about. Then watch this video and inform others, get organized, and get active.

Toxic to Democracy

I happened onto this story on my way home from the grocery store tonight. It was on the NPR program Fresh Air and was an interview with Chip Berlet who is the senior analyst at Political Research Associates, at PublicEye.org.
Britney Spears a Freemason?
06/23/2009What if Britney Spears became a Freemason?
I know it’s a bit of an outlandish idea, and that few would readily take it seriously, or even believe a headline like the above, but in the magical world of “what if”, imagine for a moment that just such a story were hit the media outlets to say that the performer had entered the pillared threshold of a Co-Masonic lodge and undertaken the degrees of the fraternity.
Vide, Aude and .. What Was the Other One?
06/23/2009A fellow was directed to me some weeks ago who was interested in joining Freemasonry. I told him any time he wanted to chat, I’d be more than happy to do so.He certainly is serious about it, as he’s been talking to members of a number of different Lodges and dropping by after their meetings to ask questions and sort of get to know people (he knows no Masons locally). Finally, we had a chance to talk and he asked me what Lodge I’d recommend to him.

http://justamason.blogspot.com/The Universities Scheme Conference
06/23/2009Yesterday, the Universities Scheme Conference was held at Freemason's Hall in Manchester. I went. It was rubbish.Okay, that was a complete lie (and a bit of an in-joke)! I've blogged previously about the Universities Scheme and what it's all about, so I won't re-iterate that here.

06/23/2009In speaking of York Rite Alchemy I will first treat the subject of Alchemy by itself:Alchemy is divided into two denominations: Operative and Speculative.Operative Alchemy is the science of transmuting lead into gold, and while this lofty goal was perhaps never achieved by the operatives, their work became the precursor to modern Chemistry.Speculative Alchemy is the science of transmuting our own being from its rough and imperfect state into its exalted and all-perfect state.
http://blog.kingsolomonslodge.org/Mel Blanc and His Shriner Buddies
06/23/2009Mel Blanc was a part of everyone’s childhood. There was a time you couldn’t get away from him. Warner Bros. cartoons were on TV every day (except sacred Sundays at one time), and there was Mel as the voice of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck (my favourite), Sylvester, Porky, Foghorn Leghorn, and the list goes on. You could hear him as Barney Rubble on The Flintstones.

06/23/2009Senior Warden Kevin, Organist Nathaniel, and Bro. Ali at Alpha Lodge Wednesday night. It isn’t necessary to be a Masonic VIP from a faraway land to speak at Alpha Lodge’s podium. On Wednesday, we heard from a homegrown Alpha male, recently raised to the Third Degree.Bro. Nathaniel spoke on several subjects, compensating for two other Alpha brethren who could not attend.

http://themagpiemason.blogspot.com/It Was So Much Better Back Then. Really.
06/23/2009You know how it was “back when I was Worshipful Master.” You should. You’ve no doubt heard the old timers spout those favourite, treasured words as an introduction to stories about Masonic life in the 1950s. To hear them tell it, there were constantly holding extra nights for degrees, Lodge rooms were bulging with Freemasons, hundreds would show up to gala events. It was just so much bigger and better back then.Uh, maybe not.
